WOYWW - ruffled feathers

2 machines, neither in action.

Well I did appear to ruffle a few feathers last week at Whats on your workbench Wednesday, so maybe I ought to apologise this week?

NO, no apology, just a bit of education instead.

Last week I made a passing comment about my 3 sewing machines, and all you paper crafters started having palpitations.

Only the other week Hettiecraftcz justified two glue guns because one was on special offer.

And papers, the things I could tell you lot about your scrappy piles when seen from a distance!

Pot calling the kettle black I say.

Pop back a posting and you can hear about how my baby blue Singer has risen from the grave.  Following that posting, Twiglet of Sisters Crafty Creations, sent me a darning plate from her old Singer (a machine now long since departed from this fabric ladened world).  On removing the sewing plate from mine, I discovered a section that yet to be de-fuzzed.

And if you recall from last week, my vaccum cleaners has broken down, so that is the stage the machine is at, waiting to be de-fuzzed.

The desk itself has several part finished items, some doorstops / bookends waiting to be filled, some waiting to be made, a stack of books waiting for me to attach the covers, (which are in one of the boxes under the desk).  All of which need to be finished for Dolgellau Thursday Market.

And finally, tomorrow (Thursday), there will be a small giveaway on this blog in recognition of all the generosity out there in the blogging world.

  1. Two machines not in action? Just not good enough. :-) You will probably see steam coming out of my 4 machines today....and yes, I do use all 4 on a daily basis....Industrial machine is my work horse, Computerised sewing machine is for the clever stuff, Blind hemmer for all those trousers and of course the overlocker. That doesn't include the embellishing machine of course but there won't be a second to play here today so that will stay under wraps.

    A x

  7. Sad to hear that you are still in a mess on the workbench and even sadder to hear that the sewing machines are not working - as to the vacuum - I would never notice if it was broken. Hope Thursday goes well for you. xx

  9. I would never diss a fellow crafty person for having multiple tools! Never! I promise. I totally understand the need for different tools and supplies in large quantity because you never know what you might need. Sorry to hear they are on the fritz though... AND the vacuum cleaner! Did the magic smoke come out? You know how it goes... the smoke comes out and then the machine doesn't work anymore, so it must have been the magic smoke that made it work in the first place.

  10. LOL! I am definately a kettle! The more sewing machines the better (as I have three TH poke-y things to pierce paper since I am chronically misplacing them...or having them borrowed by my 7 yr old). Have a wonderful WOYWW! Good luck with reviving the Singer and the vacume! -Amanda 80

  11. I'm afraid I'm not a have-one-of-anything person ... am always afraid one will break or get lost so tend to have two or three or four or five of most things! Happy WOYWWing. Debbie #89

  14. Ha, I'm a kettle I think...no problem with having more than one of anything I like!! But, if it's something you've got and I haven't, I might be a pot!! Oh I dunno, just trying to unwrinkle the whys...sure hope your Hoover gets better soon..not for floor cleaning of course.

  15. The more the merrier, I say! Fantastic that you are able to resurrect machines! I just replaced my vacuum this week, too. What is it with appliances??? UGH!!!! And I LOVE having stitching on paper. I am just far too lazy for that.

  16. I recently had to defuzz my sewing machine, but I didn't use a Hoover (which in the states is a vacuum cleaner). I would have been here earlier, but I got caught in a tornado early Wed morning. Here's to a belated WOYWW from #3.

  17. I would also be a kettle. I kept my old machine for a back up in case the new one gives me trouble, but there are days when both of them are up and running. dani43

  18. I say "Have as many sewing machines as you want!". I'm sure different ones work better for different projects! I used to quilt, but havent for ages, and dread taking out my machine. Last time I used it, it started making a burning smell, so I unplugged it and smoke poured out of the hole that the plug had been in. Plus the needle broke, so that was the end of it for me! would like to stitch on paper though. Have a great week. Barb
