I didn't feel up to working last night, but I thought I should tidy my desk ready to start. So here is the view from the glue side.
I still have a little bowl of homeless things in the middle there. |
Shall I show the reason that I am finally able to be tidy? Here is the second chest of drawers I have been waiting for. The idea is to keep a drawer for each sewing pattern, so as I cut out pieces they can go straight in a drawer. Each drawer is removeable, so when I am working I can have the relevant drawer by the side of me.
Today's task is to label the drawers |
Here are a couple of other new additions.
Whilst at my mum's I ran into Laughing Yaffle. We had a chat about free motion sewing and baby blue sewing machine and I mentioned that the needle didn't lift high on the machine. So she kindly lent me this embroidery ring to try out, and I can report that it is perfect for the task.
A much thinner emboridery ring. |
And here is my another tidy purchase. It is a hangy bag from sisters crafty creations. I have bought it as a rubbish bin! Because space is limited around my desk, I keep moving my bin, so I thought this would be ideal. It isn't for big rubbish, just the little trimmings that I make of sewing threads.
Sorry, but this photo doesn't give it credit. |
see - all I need is a system like yours and i'm sure I could be tidy and organised too, sooo impressive, and I like your little bowl of homeless things...

Is it very sad to say that I envy you your drawers?? It is really, isn't it but I DO!! I totally get that it's a brilliant way of keeping patterns, cut-outs etc safe - mine are usually strewn across the spare bed.....
ReplyDeleteLovely hangabout! I've made a few of those in my time too :)

PS My son is very jealous that you have snow!
PPS Did you work out the clue??
I love organising and tidying things into new homes [but then I usually forget where I've put it all :-) ].

Glad the little Hangabout arrived safely. I hang mine over my table edge for threads and bits when I am trying to be neat and tidy. On very busy days I just drop it all on the floor!!! Hope you can get going with your little Singer machine. x Jo

ReplyDeleteLovely to be able to see your desk at last - good work. I have found the labelling thing so important (I have four of those drawer units in my little sewing room - all full - I cannot find a thing as none are labelled!) This is also on my "to do" list. xx

ReplyDeleteHi, I'm a new WOYWW-er so spending the week trying to get around as many desks as I can! I love your idea for the drawers ... I have loads of UFO's (unfinished objects) which tend to get piled up and forgotten about so what a great idea instead! The only problem is that it won't work for my larger projects (furniture etc ...lol) but at least they're too big to ignore! Thanks for sharing : )
