Woyww - An apology!

To make up for last week's refusal to apologise over sewing machines, I shall start this week with an apology about word verification.

I am sorry, but I didn't know that my word verification was turned on, I only discovered it when Annie left a note.  Hopefully I have now turned it off.  So spread the word - are you certain your word verification is turned off? help your friends by letting them know if what their's is doing and then let them choose!

Back to the slightly less important issue of my desk on display for all to see because of Whats on your workbench Wednesday.  And for the first week ever, I have tidied before your arrival.  But then I stopped.  I didn't want you to have nothing to look at.

On my desk is some squares of felt, some squares of fluff (aka as fleece), a set of pliers, some flex frames and for some reason a universal remote control still in its packaging.

You probably know why all of this is, as no doubts my cries of pain, anguish and general frustration could be heard from where ever you are sitting.

On Wednesday afternoon the fluff finally arrived, I planned to make some glasses cases with it.  I quickly made a mock up.  It didn't look great but it was good enough to photo for my St David's Day giveaway.  I noted a few changes.  Then headed off for my St David's Day market.

Since returning from the market I have been fighting to make 7 (yes that is all), just 7 little pouches.  To be fair, my problem was trying to make 7 different designs at the same time, but as each glasses case requires 3 different sewing feet (don't ask) I thought I do them as a batch.
You can't see the blood sweat and tears on them can you?

I worked the applique in fleece rather than cotton, as I feel it will stand the wear and tear better.  I wanted to continue the theme of the range, so used a contrasting colours for the rim and lining.  I made phone cases as well as glasses cases.  And general drove myself insane to produce this small batch of flick flack glasses cases and phone covers.  I shall think long and hard before commiting myself to make any more!

  4. I love the glass cases, I don't sew, but I know what a foot is on a sewing machine! and if you have to change them that many times then they are intensive! Beauty has it's price, or so I am told! waving hi from the beautiful hills of North Carolina :)

  5. I love flick flack cases. I used to have a little leather purse and used it constantly. Your designs are lovely especially now that I understand all that hard work that you put into them.

  10. Well, I think they all look lovely but I am sure they will have taken ages to make. We came back from the coast via Dolgellau. Think we will pop over for a look round the town one day. Any nice craft shops??

  14. Hi Polly, firstly thank you for the heads-up on the word verification being turned on on my Blog! This wasn't intentional but I should now have sortedit and turned it off - word verification seems to be a contentious issue on WOYWW, and I can cope with it when it's easy, but when it isn't clear it drives me (and many others!) insane! Your glasses cases/pouches look fab even if they are still prototypes - and as a glasses-wearer myself, I have to admit I had no idea how tricky they could be to make! Best wishes and thanks for popping by my Pen Pot, Deb x

  22. Hi, fabulous glasses cases you have made!
You mentioned about not apologizing about sewing machines so I went back a few posts. I hope that my comment on WOYWW did not offend you. I commented that if you had 2 machines maybe there were 2 of you and that would explain how you could make so many projects. It was meant more as a joke and a compliment

  23. (continued) ... I was in no way meaning you had too many machines or anything like that. Let me tell you, I have way too much stuff and would never question what someone else has or needs or even wants. I know sometimes comments do not come across as intended because the tone and facial expressions, etc are absent.
So, if I offended you in any way, I do truly apologize.
    xoxo Karen

  24. What super glasses cases - shame I never use one! Really enjoyed reading your posts this week, and I loved the idea of the children turning their old blankets into cushions, themselves. Off now to turn my word verification off!

  27. Lovely glasses cases. I didn't see the blood sweat and tears because I didn't have my glasses on! LOL

I had the same problem with the word verification thing. Gosh those are so annoying and here I had it on my blog too, but not any more! lol

I have been working with felt too, I will post it and some other thing in my next post. In the mean time join my blog if you wish for a chance to win a give away.
